In the district of Harajuku in Tokyo, there’s a very awesome Kawaii (meaning cute, nerdy, and colorful) culture. Here you will find the most creative and colorful cafes in the streets and you also can spot many people in cool manga-like outfits. But the Kawaii Monster Cafe in this neighborhood is the absolute pinnacle. Concealed on the 4th floor of a large building, escalators take you unsuspectingly into this alien cafe! We wrote a whole article about the Kawaii Monster Cafe in Tokyo.

The Insta-worthy 2D Cafe is definitely one of the Instagrammable spots in Tokyo! Upon stepping inside you find yourself directly in a cartoony world, but it’s an actual restaurant where you can eat and drink. We went there and had a blast! You can find this hotspot in the Shin Ōkubo area, also known as “Tokyo’s Korean town”. This 2D cafe opened in 2019 and besides takeout, you can sit here with your friends in this black and white 2-dimensional world. We wrote a whole article about the 2D cafe in Tokyo.

In the middle of Tokyo, you will find this shrine with this beautiful red torii tunnel. The torii is the entrance to the temple. This red/orange color is so beautiful and typical of the torii gates. Try to be here as early in the morning as you can be, because it can get crowded!

The view from the top floor of the Shibuya Scramble Square is breathtaking. It is a new building that opened in November 2019. Various highlights such as the Tokyo Tower and of course the Shibuya Crossing can be seen from the deck. And if you are lucky you can even see Mount Fuji in clear weather. It is advisable to buy tickets in advance and reserve your desired time slot. Golden hour is especially recommended (one hour before sunset)! It is wonderful to see the city come alive into the nightlife during the golden hour. In the building itself are many shops and restaurants that you can visit after your adventure on this amazing Skydeck.
