A huge dream has come true: the founders of Free Birds Magazine (Guus and Suus) are going on an unbelievable trip around the world. We have named this epic trip The Big One!
We will be traveling two full months to 8 countries and 18 cities. The list of amazing things we are going to see and do is just mindboggling. This just might be the highlight of our lives!
Contentboost for Free Birds
After 5 months of preparations and saving up every dime we ‘ve got, we are ready to go on a journey of a lifetime. We will actively be seeking inspiration for dozens of cool Free Birds articles to inspire, entertain and inform you readers of the best food and the best hotspots in the world.
We will also be shooting boatloads of great content on this trip that we will be sharing on our Instagram-account. Follow us there to see our best pictures and coolest videos of all these magical locations!
What countries are you visiting?
Starting from Israel (Tel Aviv and Jerusalem) driving to Jordan (Wadi Rum, Petra, Dead Sea) and then flying to hectic and crazy India for a couple of days in Delhi and Agra (Taj Mahal, Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk). Then it's off to futuristic Singapore (Marina Bay Sands, Changi airport, Supertree Grove).
After that, we will travel to exhilarating Hong Kong (Temple Street, Lantau Island, Symphony of Lights) and then it's off to the land of the rising sun.
Corona Update 14-3 > > Wow, what the frick is going on with the world! Corona just hit the world hardcore and it's making it impossible to travel like we planned out. We weren't allowed to cross the border at Jordan, Israel was closing, India was closing and the rest of the world was also freaking out. Going home was not an option, we had too many details planned out. It was a giant mess. We were freaking out for the world, our family and friends and our world trip. We made a big decision and decided to already go to Japan!
It seems at this moment the only country that will let us is and is safe and civil (and very cool!).
So… from a huge planning to absolutely no planning. What a turnaround, what the frick is going on! These are crazy times guys… Stay safe, stay indoors if you have to and enjoy the downtime. The world will be open again soon…
We will be traveling through Tokyo for the upcoming weeks and really hope they don't close everything. 2020, you're sooo weird!
We will be staying in magical Japan for two whole weeks, including a week in Tokyo, 3 days in Kyoto, 1 day in Nara and 3 days in Osaka. There will we enjoy the lovely nerdy culture and visit hotspots and fun activities like The Robot Restaurant, the Tokyo Skytree, mariokarting in Akihabara, a day trip to Mount Fuji, watch the cherry blossom, gawk at all the beautiful temples in Kyoto, eating way too much food in Osaka, and be amazed in the museum of Teamlab Borderless.
After Japan it's time to continue our amazing world trip. We are traveling around the planet, so we are going to the green paradise in the Pacific: Hawai! We will be driving a cool Jeep Wrangler on the islands of Oahu and Kauai. Surfing, swimming, relaxing, eating and repeat. There, we will visit Pearl Harbor, the Kauloa Ranch, the Banzai Pipeline, Waikiki beach, the Na'pali Coast and so much more.
The last location before we head back home is … * drumrolls *…. Texas!
Yeeeeehah everybody, we will enjoy our last stop in wonderful Texas. Houston, San Antonio and Austin will host our final week of this lifechanging roundtrip. We will visit the Nasa Houston Space Center, enjoy a sunday service in Austin and eat at all the fast food places America is so well known for. We will probably eat way too much brisket and ribs to even speak for a whole week. Luckily we only have to type great stories and edit amazing pictures 😉
