It's December 15th, 2020, and the world seems to be closing down again, lockdown part II… It's time for a little chat about ‘Resistance'!
Our home country of the Netherlands has decided to close everything down, from schools to gyms to non-essentials stores. Neighboring countries are also closing up shops and it seems that it's going to be a long, dark, lonely, and strange winter. It's a giant understatement that this situation sucks. Everything normal has become abnormal. And there seems to be no end in sight, and it feels like walking in the mist with just a faint idea of direction…
But we want to talk about this situation because it's a perfect example of Resistance working its magic…
Dream big, expect heavy resistance
We are leaving after Christmas to start Freebirding, but with all these developments, can we still even go? Yes, we can and we will!
With the greater long-term picture in the back of our minds of becoming world travelers, it's just a (big) bump in the road…
To be frank, making your dreams come true isn't easy. It never is and it never will be easy. The bigger the dream, the bigger the resistance. This force of nature (resistance!) will do everything in its power to keep you from achieving your goals and making your life a memorable one. If you can recognize resistance on your path, you can fight against it instead of letting it beat you up.
Expect great resistance with anything worthwhile. It's a law of nature, just like gravity.
And a little cheat code of life; when there is resistance, you'll know you're on the right path!
What do you mean, Resistance?
I found out about Resistance in the book ‘The War of Art' by author Steven Pressfield. He wrote many great books about productivity and overcoming obstacles on your path to success. In whatever shape or form that may be, this book has a giant secret that you should get acquainted with. It's called Resistance!
You all know gravity right? It's there, but you can't see it. But you know it's absolutely real. The same rules apply to the force of nature called ‘Resistance'. It's an invisible force that does everything in its power to make your dreams NOT come true. Every time you want amazing things, you'll encounter Resistance in the form of your own doubts, doubts of others, weird problems, and many other annoying setbacks.
It's a force of nature that not many people know of, but when you see it, your reaction to it will drastically change. You will know it's another bump in the road on your way to success.
Stephen's book ‘The War of Art' is a masterpiece every creative soul should read. You will conquer all resistance with this brilliant knowledge!
We will not be stopped
A pandemic, hysterical 24/7 news, wild opinions, frustrated people, and even illogical bureaucracy won't stop us. There will be many bumps in the road, we know this and we expect this, but we will not be stopped.
There is too much beauty in the world to not walk through the mist…
