Being an entrepreneur can be overwhelming since you have to take care of everything in your business. So today, we’re giving you a tour of the marketplace for quick digital jobs called Fiverr, showing you how you can use it to streamline your tasks (and life).
What kind of services can I get on Fiverr?
A better question would be, “What kind of services can’t you get on Fiverr?” The site gives you access to freelancers in more than 300 categories. You’d be hard-pressed to find a service Fiverr can’t help you with!
Can’t think of a catchy name for your new business? You got it! While you’re at it, why not get a logo for that new business? Or maybe you’re looking for more creative services like illustration, album-cover art, or even lyrics for your new song. Whatever you might need, Fiverr’s got you covered in almost every case.
And most of the time, these services just cost you about 5 dollars! That's where the name comes from 😉
Can I expect quality?
You might be thinking, “That’s all well and good, but can I really expect good work on Fiverr?” We get it, you don’t want to get scammed or have your business affected by sub-par work. Fortunately, you can rest easy. Companies like Facebook, Google, Netflix, P&G, and PayPal rely on Fiverr to outsource their work. On top of that, Fiverr customer support is lightning-fast, responsive, and extremely helpful.

We, ourselves, have used the marketplace of Fiverr for our business needs and have gotten wonderful results. Our Free Birds logo has been made by creative people who we hired via Fiverr, and about a quarter of all our travel articles have been written by hardworking and very kind people from Pakistan (and yes, their English writing is quite good!). And we even got some excellent help with our SEO.
Important sidenote; before you find one of these professional cats that actually understands what you want, you will have to wade through some weird, funny, and absurd proposals and messages. Half of the people soliciting your job, do not have the actual skills to do the job. So be strict, clear, and to the point with your demands and wishes.
That being said, there are a few things you have to look out for if you want quality work. We’ll cover these briefly:
- Ratings: This will be the biggest indicator of seller quality. Hire sellers with a 5-star rating or as close to a 5-star rating as possible.
- Number of ratings: Number of ratings is also important. A seller with more than 2000 5-star ratings will be much more reliable than a seller with only 10.
- Seller longevity: Basically, seller longevity means how long they’ve been on Fiverr. You have to use this one in conjunction with the previous two. If a seller has been on Fiverr for the past 5 years and s/he has a lot of good ratings then you will definitely get quality work.
- Canned offers: Sometimes you need to post your project to invite custom offers. Fiverr calls these Buyer Requests. If you post one, watch out for sellers who send you canned responses; as in, responses they just copy-paste on every Buyer Request without reading it or checking if they can even do the work. As a general rule of thumb, give those sellers a wide berth.
- Communication: The way a seller communicates with you is important. If they’re extremely professional, polite, prompt, and responsive, they’ll likely give you great work.
