Nowadays it's an Insta-worthy hotspot, which is getting more and more famous. Get prepared and enjoy the mighty nature of Iceland while lying in warm water.
Seljavallalaug can only be found with good preparation. There are no signs along the way. The pool is accessible via the 242 road from the ring-road 1. Skogafoss is nearby, so plan this trip on the same day.
In Google Maps you can type Seljavallalaug Swimming Pool and you then navigate to the Pool Car Park. This is a new and different swimming pool, but here you can park the car and from there you continue the route further into the valley on foot.
Here are the exact coordinates if you prefer for your GPS: 63.5655° N, 19.6079° W
You can park for free and there is no entrance fee at theSeljavallalaug pool. You only need your own transport, for example by renting a car. From the parking lot, you walk in a straight line to the pool. You can not get lost and the walk takes about 15 minutes through a stunning valley. You have to cross a shallow stream over the stones that are already there> You have to walk carefully because of the many irregularities, but it is not a difficult hike at all.

As soon as you see the Seljavallalaug pool, you understand why this is a hidden gem! The view is jaw-dropping!
Allow enough time to take pictures of the pool in this majestic valley. Come early or later in the afternoon so that you are more likely to be alone or with just a few people. The disadvantage is that it is an unmanned swimming pool, where maintenance is hardly or no longer done. The changing booths are quite dirty, so take a towel and flipflops with you because you need them.
Warm water flows continuously into the pool from a warm waterfall. The water is not super warm, but it is certainly not cold. Please note that due to the lack of maintenance, algae float. So keep your head above water and make sure you are dry and clean when you change into your clothes. It can also be slippery in the pool, which isn't a problem, but you will slide across the floor (which can be a funny experience).
Come prepared and enjoy this unique moment!
