These are our recommendations for the best places to eat when in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I will guarantee you will say ´muy rico.´ after every dinner!
Trattoria del Centro;
Lovely Italian place that has authentic Italian pasta and Napolitan pizzas. We took our two Quattro Fromaggi pizzas with us to the beach to watch the sunset. La vita è bella!
Uno;
Cute Japanese restaurant with delicious ramen noodles, sushi, and more. Their 3 for 2 sushi rolls before 7 pm deal is excellent (and delicious!). We went to Uno a total of three times in two weeks!
El Fogon;
Authentic, delicious, and very affordable Mexican dishes can be found at the atmospheric El Fogon. Try the chef specials!
Don Sirloin;
Also a taqueria / taco-specialist like El Fogon, and arguable even a bit tastier. They could both tie in a taco-competition!
Shoux Shoux & Le p'tit Shoux;
For a tasty, healthy, and delicious breakfast and lunch, you have to try Shoux Shoux. This trendy place is very popular amongst millennials, nomads, influencers, and hipsters, so there might be a little waiting line. Their little brother is called Le p´tit Shoux and is about 10 minutes walk from this location.
Fresco Habito;
This cute little place might be even better than Shoux Shoux. It´s a smaller place, but their menu filled with poke bowls, acai bowls, and smoothies is sublime. The hummus trio here is tremendous and we highly recommend their healthy orange, beet, and ginger juices. And you don´t even pay that much for all these healthy and delicious meals.

Hard Rock Cafe;
Maybe cliche and overrated, but we always love a good fat juicy burger from time to time. Expensive, yes, but you always roll out of this place with a full belly and a smile on your fat face 😉
Ferron´s Jerk Chicken;
The number one restaurant in Playa del Carmen on Tripadvisor is the Jamaican restaurant Ferron´s Jerk Chicken. It´s about a 7-minute drive from the center, near the mall of Plaza las Americas. We went there, but man… we didn´t quite get the hype. The menu was quite basic and the flavors were bland. The chicken was pretty good though, but don´t expect any culinary experience.
Moshe Cube;
Do you love Israelian food like us? Then you will love Moshe Cube. They have falafel, hummus, shawarma, and so much more kosher food. And very strong Turkish coffee and a Maroccac cigar as a desert. Love(d) it!

Street food love;
Special kudos to the hard-working men and women of the many street food carts all around town. Their tacos are absolutely delicious. And some are even better tasting than expensive restaurants! Our recommendation is a gringas with beef (or the vegetarian option) from the food cart with no name on the left side next to this cart. This 1.5 dollar dish is our personal favorite dish. So fresh, so good, so affordable!
p.s; don´t forget to have a tequila, mezcal, or cerveza before, after, and during dinner 😉
p.s.s; almost forget to mention, but do try the tasty sweet snack marquesitas (thin waffle with banana, cheese, and Nutella!), you will love it!
¡Provecho! amigos!
