Top 10 Things to do in Paris, France – Highlights and tips!

Are you planning on visiting the City of Love any time soon? Great, because Paris is absolutely beautiful! It’s a buzzing city with many (authentic) hotspots to visit, but what places are a must-see?

Things to do in Paris, we know a thing or two (actually 10) about that. We’ve been to this magical and very romantic city many times over and we know exactly where you need to go. Follow our lead and your trip to Paris will be unforgettable!

Adore the beautiful Eiffel Tower (from every angle)

The Eiffel Tower… The most iconic building in Paris that rises far above the Paris skyline. Because the rest of Paris is less high-rise, you can easily spot the Eiffel Tower from many points in the city. And that is exactly what is so beautiful about the Eiffel Tower, every corner and every other hour of the day gives her a new spotlight to fall in love with.

Seeing the Eiffel Tower immediately gives a feeling of romance. Explore the city and look for places to see her during the day, and night when she is lit with thousands of flickering lights!

Pro tip: Go down the street Rue de L'Université and take beautiful insta-worthy photos of yourself with the Eiffel Tower. We were there too!

Visit the Arc the Triomphe

The Arc the Triomphe is an impressively large monument right in the city center of Paris. It is even the second-largest Triomphe in the world with its 50 meters in height and 45 meters in width. You can view the Arc the Triomphe from the street and marvel at the busy traffic coming from 12 sides around it.

But it is even better to buy a ticket and climb the Arc de Triomphe! You get to the top by climbing a long spiral staircase (or elevator if needed). From the top of the Arc de Triomphe, you have a 360-degree view of all of Paris and of course, you will also see the stunning Eiffel Tower!

Especially at nighttime or during sunset, the view from the Arc is jaw-dropping… You will enjoy a breathtaking view of The City of Lights and Love!

See the mysterious Mona Lisa at the beautiful Louvre Museum

The Louvre is the world's largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris. And that is not without reason… The beautiful and mysterious Mona Lisa hangs in The Louvre and attracted 9,6 million visitors in 2019. This makes it very busy in the section where it is displayed. But it's worth it to see her in person. Due to the crowds, I recommend arriving as early as possible or at the very end of the day. Then you have the best chance that you avoid guided tours with lots of tourists.

Besides The Mona Lisa, the rest of the Louvre Museum and its collection is also very beautiful. The rest of the museum will be a lot quieter and giving you more time to admire the collection. In addition to The Mona Lisa, the collection of The Louvre Museum includes Egyptian antiquities, Islamic art, near Eastern antiquities, and many more.

Pro-tip: If you want to get this sunrise shot, be there really early! Be sure to check when the sun rises when you are in Paris to time it perfectly.

Admire the splendor of Palais Garnier

A visit to Palais Garnier is the number 3 thing to do in Paris according to Trip Advisor, and we can vouch for that! Palais Garnier is an opera building that hosts many performances, but apart from an opera, you can also admire the historic building. It is a beautiful building to admire, not just from the outside, but especially from the inside. You will be amazed at the many beautiful and expensive decorations that have been used to decorate this unique building.

Pro tip: For a complete visit, we recommend that you book an opera and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Palais Garnier.

Pro tip 2: The palace is closed for visitors when there are live performances. Check the calendar of Palais Garnier in advance.

Behold the beautiful Sainte-Chapelle

A visit to Sainte-Chapelle is the number 2 thing to do in Paris according to Trip Advisor. And after your visit to this beautiful chapel, you will understand why. From the outside, it is not a very striking building, but the inside is a completely different story!

A small staircase leads you up to the first floor of the chapel. And there is its magical beauty. You are now in the chapel and surrounded by the purple splendor of the many stained glass windows. You can't help but just look around in awe this beautiful Gothic chapel!

Pro tip: Buy your skip the line ticket in advance so you don't have to wait in the looooong queue.

Dine among the locals at a Parisian restaurant

French cuisine is widely known and popular for its excellent taste and fresh products. The French love to eat and they take a lot of time for cooking these delicious meals. As a tourist you can, of course, best experience these traditions by eating in a real Parisian restaurant. And there are plenty of those in Paris! They can often be recognized by their red and white woven chairs on the small terrace, they are attractively lit and besides tourists, you will also find the locals enjoying their coffee or meal extensively.

Bon appétit!

Pro tip: Dine at Le Franc-Tireur an authentic Parisian restaurant with yummy food for a good price. Don't forget to toast on the good life with some great Belgian or Dutch special beers!
