Stroopwafels! Try saying that if you are not Dutch, quite difficult eh ;)? But you can't visit Amsterdam without eating these amazing Dutch threats. These delicious cookies are filled with caramel and are found everywhere in Amsterdam!
And the (soon to be world-) famous Van Wonderen Stroopwafels is not your average stroopwafel shop. The stroopwafels are of very good quality and freshly made in the store. And they are colorfully decorated with beautiful toppings. And the interior of the Van Wonderen Stroopwafels shop is like a fairytale! It's one of the go-to hotspots when visiting Amsterdam.

”The tastiest stroopwafels with the most beautiful toppings in an authentic jacket.” – Van Wonderen Stroopwafel.
Van Wonderen Stroopwafels
It's a beautiful, Insta-worthy shop that gives you that typical magical fairytale feeling. This is especially because of all the beautiful decorations with balloons and golden details. The store is easy to find in the Kalverstraat, the main shopping street in the city center of Amsterdam next to the Dam square. The only drawback is that the Kalverstraat is also the busiest shopping street in Amsterdam, so there is a good chance that the small shop and the outside are quite busy. Try to go to Van Wonderen as early as you can, before opening, or just when it's closing to avoid the crowds. You want to take your time to take some cool pictures of this beautiful shop.

What toppings do they have?
The stroopwafels are freshly prepared in the bakery of the store. The stroopwafel is half decorated with a topping of your choice. You can choose from smarties, kletskop (a dutch cooky), caramel, chocolate flakes, tiny marshmallows, and other tasty sweets. This decoration sticks to the stroopwafel by melted milk chocolate. But as real Dutchies, our preference was a bare undecorated stroopwafel.
A small stroopwafel costs €3.95, medium-size costs €5.95, and a large stroopwafel costs €7.95. They are all freshly made and come in very nice packaging to take them home with you. Or they are placed in a handy and beautiful cardboard napkin to eat them immediately. Bon appetite!
